PTI-led govt plans to refurbish grid stations
PESHAWAR (APP): The upcoming Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf (PTI) Government has planned to rehabilitate and revamp power grid stations with a prime focus to address problems of low voltage and load-shedding in the province.
Engr Hamidul Haq, newly elected Member of National Assembly and Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf leader told APP here Tuesday that PTI leadership was well aware of problems of masses regarding long hours of load shedding and has planned to revamp and rehabilitate grid stations in the province with assistance of Wapda and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) to improve voltage especially in rural areas and enhance productivity of electricity besides ensuring smooth flow of electricity to consumers, agriculture and industrial sectors.
He said PTI Chief Minister-designate, Pervez Khan Khattak has held detailed meeting with Pesco Chief and appraised himself about the province's energy requirement and production capacity, adding that Pervez Khattak has directed PESCO authorities for quick repair of electric transformers in areas where consumers regularly pay electricity bills.
Engr Hamidul Haq said Pakistan was rich in hydro resources of energy and according to an estimate the country has enough resources to generate approximately 40000 mega watt of hydro-electricity.
In addition, the country can generate maximum electricity with the help of wind, coal and solar energy, which has not yet been fully exploited to meet the problems of energy deficit the country is currently facing.
He underscored the need for change of attitude and lifestyle in order to conserve energy.
He said PTI would fully cooperate with Federal Government to tackle
menace of load shedding in the country.
He said special projects would be launched in Chitral, Kohistan and Swat districts for generating inexpensive electricity for people and industrial consumption besides completing ongoing dams/energy projects on time. He said lack of funds and mismanagement are one of the major causes of energy shortage that could only tackled through generating resources and better planning and management.
Engr Hamidul Haq said PTI Govt has planned to supply clean water to Peshawar from Warsak Dam through a pipe and work, adding a similar project would be launched for Karak district for facilitation of its residents.
He said traffic was a gigantic problems of Peshawar that would be addressed by removing encroachments from service roads, construction of under passes and launching special train service from General Bus Stand to Railway Station Peshawar cantt for transportation of passengers.
He said KP Govt would take full advantage from the policies of PTI regarding reform in social sectors to improve the socio-economic condition of masses.
Focus would be made on sanitation projects in NA-2 Peshawar as it was neglected in the past for development work, he said, adding new projects would be launched after consultation with electorates to make durable, he maintained.
Special reforms in education and health sectors would be introduced for betterment of poorest of the poor and people. He said Local Bodies election would be held on party basis in which PTI would fully participate.
Attributing PTI success in general elections 2013 to the inspiring leadership of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Engr Hamid said the KP Government would take guidance from the party leadership to make the plans and strategies goal oriented.
He said defeated elements who are scared of PTI popularity, were came out again using different catchy slogans to grab people attention.
Hamid said these elements instead to accept their defeat in general election 2013 are making hue and cry to divert PTI attention from resolution of peoples problems.
However, he said PTI would not pay any head to such political gimmicks and would continue to focus on resolution of peoples problems and will establish a role model Govt where every person can get dignified jobs, justice, health and education services on merits.
