This is being asked to confirm whether p3c orion parked at Mehran base had adequate distance between them. This could have prevented the damage to second aircraft,

They did not, they were not dispersed as in wartime, and due to the intelligence failure, no such attack was anticipated and aircraft given enough spacing or dispersed.

.
On the contrary, during an alert where possiblity of sabotage is high the planes are parked together in close proximity and pickets manned by ground combateers are established around the parked aircrafts.

To me it seems like a. there was not enough space on the apron to park these aircrafts further apart b. If the sabotage precaution was taken than there was no picket established around these crafts.

Picekts were of no use in this scenario as Terrorists used rocket launchers and we would have seen increased causality rate in this case as well

I do not think that there were any pickets around the aircrafts. Furthermore, the pickets need to be cognizant of the state of alert and nature of threat. I think with all the rot that has set in our nation, armed forces are not immune to what is going on around them.

BTW the effective range and hit probabilites for stationary targets are 96% at 100 meters with a 7 mph cross wind. This is from a highly trained operator. One of the RPG's did miss the second aircraft.

In this case however.. the close parking has gone against it...since the exploding aircraft damaged others next to it.
The advantage of parking together comes with the need for reduced manpower.. less men guarding a smaller area.
However.. in case one aircraft is blown up.. the effects will damage the others.

Santro:

As usual we take half baked measures. We did park the aircraft as per anti-sabotage SOP but forgot to put the pickets and extra security on the perimeter. Classic "Karawai" mode. The whole country is in an advanced "Karawai" mode--for those not familliar with Urdu "Lip Service."
