ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday approved extension of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Act 2012 to the Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) under Article 247(3) of the Constitution, enabling the establishment of local government institutions in PATA.

Spokesperson to the president Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the summary initiated by the ministry of states and frontier regions, with the approval of the KP governor, had forwarded the proposal for the extension.

The ministry of SAFRON had requested the prime minister to advise the president for according his approval for the said act.

Nope, PATA is provincially administred tribal areas and it includes dir, malakand, swat, buner , shangla. There is even "ilaqa e ghair" in hazara division , kala dhaka, which is actually PATA.
There are three kind of tribal areas.
1- FATA
2- PATA
3- FR (frontier region): these are tribal areas adjacent to FATA which are administred by the district of KPK. There are 6 FR , 1- FR DI khan (sherani tribe's area). 2- FR tank (bhittani tribal area) 3- FR Lakki (bhittani tribal area). 4- FR Bannu (wazir tribal area. 5- FR kohat (dara adam khel) 6- FR peshawer (afridi tribal area).
E.g bannu consist of district bannu which is settled area and FR Bannu which is tribal area inhabited by wazir tribes of bakka khel and jani khel.
