Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Saturday urged Chinese company Huawei to establish a research centre in Pakistan to equip the youth with latest trends of information technology. Travelling from Beijing to Shanghai through high speed train, the prime minister held four meetings with different delegations and discussed with them the power and infrastructure projects with regard to Pakistan. During a meeting with Vice President Huawei Technology Limited Tang Qibing, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that a large number of youngsters in Pakistan were working in the IT sector. Tang Qibing said his company had launched its business activity from Pakistan some 19 years ago and has now established its offices in four countries. He told the prime minister that Huawei was engaged in different telecommunication projects with Mobilink and Ufone. However, he expressed interest in Pak-China Optic Fiber project and briefed the Prime Minister about the cost estimates of the work. Huawei's vice president said his company had recently extended education grant to two Pakistani universities including University of Engineering and Technology and National University of Science and Technology. He said his company can go into manufacturing sector in Pakistan provided the government facilitates them regarding custom duty and taxes. - See more at: PM urges Huawei to set up research centre in Pakistan | Pakistan Today | Latest news | Breaking news | Pakistan News | World news | Business | Sport and Multimedia

Transfer that manufacturing technology to Pakistan. Then, Cut copy paste those manufacturing plants, and sell them under the name of a Pakistani brand..

Research center doesn't necessarily means transfer of production technology. Its more geared towards research aids than an industrial unit.

Doesn't Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif knows, there is already a research center of huwaie at UET Lahore? and they have invested approximately 5 million dollars in to it since it's inception.

Good! then they need to make more research centers! Maybe in Karachi this time?

Thats just training center set by Huawei in collaboration with UET, its not a research center. We need big research centers.
BTW establishment of research center is still in process, its not made yet.

Training Plus research center.

Considering the load of garbage they sold Telenor in the name of upgrades.. and the sort of treatment they give to their employees. I'd love to see what "grade" of research is carried out.

That company has serious issues.
Indian intel agencies feel they are in bed with Chinese intelligence.
Their centers in India have floors where Indians are not allowed...discriminatory.
