Pilot error, he thought he can get some lift if he pushes forward, but that turned out to be fatal as the rotors collided with water.

On land this technique is used at high altitudes where the air is thin and hard to take off, i.e pilots make some forward runs and then get some momentum, which will eventually help to take off the helicopter. I think the pilot tried the same on water but didn't work out.

Heli drops back onto the water, pilots attempts to get some forward pitch and then take off, but he applied too much without any collective...and the rest is history.

because air/land resistance is much lesser compared to air/water.....
