stunning photographs shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards 2016
A record number of entries were recorded in this year’s Sony Photography Awards, with more than 230,000 photographs being submitted from 186 countries. A number of themes were covered in the competition including Europe’s refugee crisis, the Ukraine conflict, drone and underwater photography.
Three Pakistani photographers, Kumail Rizvi, Shahzad Khan and Zohaib Tariq, have also been recognised in the awards’ youth competition for photographers aged 19 and under.
Here are some of the entries which have been shortlisted and will be on display at London’s Somerset House from 22 April to 8 May.
1. ‘Pakistan’ by Zohaib Tariq, Pakistan
2. “Too much practice” by Khairel Anuar Che Ani, Malaysia
3. “Lion” by David Chancellor, UK
4. “Human made environment” by Kumail Rizvi, Pakistan
5. “Pools” by Stephan Zirwes, Germany
6. “Running away with the Circus” by Stephanie Sinclair, United States
7. “Larung Gar” by Attila Balogh, Hungary
8. “RIC Hornets” by Rob Gregory, United States
