Philosophy of martyrdom

If you die while doing a task that is entrusted on you by someone else then you are martyr. But if you are doing a work of your own choice then there's no martyrdom.

Similarly, if an army starts chosing it's enemy by its own self then there is no chance of martyrdom.

This is my understanding of philosophy martyrdom.

Martyr maybe different in other religion but In Islam its shaheed which definition can be seen from hadith below

Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah that Allah’s Messenger (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) asked: “Who do you consider to be a martyr?” They said: “O Allah’s Prophet, he who is killed fighting for the cause of Allah.” The Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “(If this is the definition of a martyr) then very few in my Ummah will be martyrs!” They asked: “Who else are they, O Allah’s Messenger?” He said: “He who is killed fighting for Allah’s cause is a martyr, he who dies in the cause of Allah is a martyr, he who dies in an epidemic is a martyr, he who dies from a stomach disease is a martyr, and the one who dies of drowning is (also) a martyr.” (Muslim, no: 891)

I am not sure about that but I hope your family does perform cremations rights after you are "dead" hopefully they accommodate the traditions and rituals of a Hindu cremation and make sure that your ashes are fed to Aquatic insects lol

Yeah, that;s prolly how I'll end up, I take that over maggots etc devouring my rotting flesh (even if it helps grow the soil)

Even as a last resort maggots wouldn’t touch a Guji Pandit body — the only place your ashes would be thrown is around a makeshift toilet.
