Shia Muslims have held a demonstration in the Pakistani city of Karachi to protest the ongoing Shia killings in the country, Press TV reports.

The protestors on Sunday voiced outrage at the federal and provincial governments for what they called the failure of the institutions to provide security in the country.

The demonstrators called on the authorities to remove Syed Qaim Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh Province.

“We condemn the federal and provincial government of Sindh for their failure to provide security to Shia Muslims in Pakistan and demand the dismissal of the incumbent chief minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, who is over-aged now and cannot run the government,” Allama Amin Shaheedi, the leader of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), told Press TV.

Last week, at least ten Shia Muslims including a doctor and several professionals were gunned down in Karachi.

The protestors say the provincial government of Sindh has done nothing in maintaining law and order in Karachi. Demonstrators also chanted slogans against the US, Israel and Saudi Arabia during the protest, which was organized by the MWM.

In Pakistan, Shia organizations along with members of the civil society have staged several protests to denounce the targeted killing of innocent Shias across the country.

A violent campaign has been launched against Shia Muslims and appears to have widened in major Pakistani cities.

According to local sources, militants affiliated to Taliban and al-Qaeda terrorist groups have killed thousands of Shia Muslims in the country.

Everyone has rights to live and pray. No one can kill someone because of sect, religion or caste.
