Pakistan is now facing a serious financial crunch. the $ reserves of the country shrank by +/- 1.5B$ during the last 2 weeks because of debt servicing and other commitments . the ports at Karachi are overflowing with export containers as buyers have started to cancel orders due to the global economic downturn.

The World Bank forecasts Pakistan's economy to grow by only 2% over the 2020-21 period. remittances by Pakistanis living abroad are going to dry up as the global recession forces workers to lose their jobs. already in the US 10m workers have applied for unemployment benefits.

The PKR is losing its value against all major currencies of the world. the only silver lining in this CV19 pandemic is the crashing prices of oil and gas, of which Pakistan is a major importer. already the government is working on renegotiating its contracts for oil and LPG by activating the 'Force Majeure' clauses in its agreements signed prior to the CV19 pandemic.

The government at the center and the provincial governments have announced relief packages to the tune of 8-10B$ to help the people who are losing their jobs because of the lockdowns imposed by these governments resulting in near to no economic activity countrywide. only essential industries like food, transport, health etc are allowed to operate under restricted rules and regulations.

An already cash strapped government is temporarily waiving off direct and indirect taxes till the CV19 pandemic is brought under control, putting additional pressure on the tax authorities to find ways and means to generate revenue to not only run the respective governments but to also fund the huge relief packages announced. which in turn is forcing the federal government to seek funds from the IFIs to the tune of 2-3B$. how the IFIs are going to respond to Pakistan's request is the million $ question!

Which brings me to the following suggestion / recommendation:

The Pakistan Military is the most disciplined and well trained organization in the country. it has always stood out with flying colors when the people of Pakistan need help during floods, earthquakes, relief operations and once again it is coming out to help the civil administration to stem the tide of this pandemic.

The Pakistan Military High Command and its Planners must now go beyond the call of duty and …..

1. Freeze the military budgets for the 2020-21 fiscal budget allocations.
2. No Capitalization Projects should be ordered / signed during this period.
3. Cut ALL non-essential allocations from its budget during this period and donate these monies back to the national exchequer.

The country's at war with a enemy it cannot see. Alhamdolillah the situation is in control and the people of Pakistan must also play their part by adhering to the lockdown conditions announced by the respective governments.

THE SITUATION IS CRITICAL BUT NOT DESPERATE.

ONLY A UNITED PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN CAN WIN THIS WAR AGAINST CV19.

IT IS ONLY UP TO US!

Thank You.

Start a war with India and get what you need.

Only war with India seems to be the Final solution.

People want war.

Democracy should give it to them

It could become costly later

Sir, I KNOW this is not going to happen, but I wish India and Pakistan would declare a 5-year truce on our borders with relation to the formal military services on both sides, on the land borders and in the air. There is no point in India asking for cessation of actions by non-state actors, for reasons that sensible people on both sides will understand. But a pledge to refrain from mutual threatening actions will release the strongest and most disciplined bodies of men and women on both sides to deal with this appalling non-military threat.

Consider this a foolish wish by a foolish old man, and pardon the naivete.
