ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said on Thursday that the issue of drone strikes will be brought up at the United Nations, Express News reported.
In a briefing in Islamabad, Chaudhry said that drone attacks violate the sovereignty of Pakistan. He added that Pakistan had released Afghan Taliban prisoners in an attempt to aid reconciliation in Afghanistan and the whereabouts of these prisoners is now unknown.
No action should be taken against Syria without the permission of the United Nations, he added further.
According to the spokesperson, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will travel to Turkey on September 16.
Pakistan had previously condemned drone strikes in the country.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry had reiterated Pakistans stance that these unilateral strikes are a violation of Pakistans sovereignty and territorial integrity. Pakistan has repeatedly emphasised the importance of bringing an immediate end to drone strikes.
The strikes have a negative impact on the mutual desire of both countries to forge a cordial and cooperative relationship and to ensure peace and stability in the region, the statement had added.
