FAISALABAD: Pakistani government has commenced building 10 bio-gas plants for electricity generation under domestic bio-gas programme initially for research objectives.


Pakistani government approved 10 bio-gas power plants for instalment upto 50 to 10 cubic meters in accordance to international standards with having capacity to run 5 to 10 kilowatts generators, local newspaper reported.

The small-scale power plants would provide prominent experiences and statistics about its feasibility for the country in future while large-scale projects will be designed on getting positive results.

According to reports, more than 3000 bio-gas plants has been installed in 12 districts of the industrial city of Faisalabad under the programme while at least 150 plants established for converting diesel powered agriculture tube wells into bio-gas.

Moreover, highly-skilled teams have been formed on grass-root level in order to build the plants on international standards as well as technical help for consumers.

Pakistani government is taking technical assistance from 40 bio-gas companies including Netherlands Development Organisation and One Rock Internation and more than 400 trained members included in the domestic bio-gas programme while Holland is providing financial aid in the sector.
