A delegation of Indian lawyers, who visited Pakistan on Thursday said the neighbouring country had decided to declare the town of Hasan Abdal, near Rawalpindi, as a 'holy city' since it houses the gurdwara of Punja Sahib.

The 106 member delegation, led by Adish C Aggarwala, president of international council of jurists and All India Bar Association, was given this assurance by Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik.
In a statement, Aggarwala said the interior minister handed over a letter to him this morning in Islamabad addressed to Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal inviting him and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to visit Pakistan to join the official announcement function.

Earlier, the group of the jurists under the banner of international council of jurists had met the Pakistani interior minister to submit a petition in this regard.

Punja Sahib is believed to house a rock having the hand print of Guru Nanak, founder of Sikh religion, and is a popular pilgrimage spot for Sikhs across the world.

Good Initiative, but the Sikh University should also be given due attention. It has hit a snag under the present Punjab Government.

thanks pakistan. good initiative. sikh hindu muslim christians are all children of god.

Great initiative. The town should promote the gurudwara as a tourist destination to Sikhs. In that way the town will also benefit financially and the residents will appreciate the government's action

It is already the centre of a biannual Sikh pilgrimage. Thousands come to the town...........

should promote more, attract more rich sikh community from Canada and UK... invitation for investment wont be a bad idea.
