"the best U.S. strategy is not to enter Pakistan, bully it, or try to adjudicate between Warlord A, General B, Corrupt President C, and Mullah D, who in the end will hate us more than they do each other. Until Pakistan’s much-ballyhooed responsible professionals stand up against the extremists (don’t hold your breath), the country can only be contained by fostering strong ties with democratic India and hoping Afghanistan proves to be a similar buffer. Extremists in Pakistan grasp that, which is why they are so keen on killing on both sides of their border." link

Practically US institutions are controlling our finance and policies from last 60 years.

Pakistan nation is still under transition period , Pakistan nation will emerge again as great nation as they emerged in 1947.We are lacking leadership and forget golden past of muslim nation.

Wake up, guys: your leaders tell you that as their excuse for robbing Pakistan blind and blaming it on the Americans.

And in what way did you emerge great in 1947 except having Pakistan to have as name.

That fault lies with you then, doesn't it!! If you are unable to control your country then there are numerous countries that will control it for you. Just take example of some Africa nations to see my point.

A nation under 40 Bill USD debt of IMF/WORLD BANK can not make decision as independent nation.

Only callapse of captialism can give us full independence :agree:

I doubt that either the U.S. or the IMF were making the decisions when Pakistan decided to support the Afghan Taliban, proceed with nuclear weaponry, or engage in cross-border guerilla activity in India and Kashmir! The U.S. and IMF try to fund projects, but it seems a large chunk of the monies are simply diverted by Pakistani officials to other pockets and purposes. It isn't the collapse of capitalism that will stop such activity, but turning off the money tap - or Pakistanis demanding increased accountability of their own government.

..and hoping Afghanistan proves to be a similar buffer..

Wow.

An argument suggesting that a nation with an economy that is two thirds reliant on illegal drugs, incapable of generating enough revenue to support even basic government functions, with a literacy rate of little more than half of Pakistan's (28%, 51%, 60% - Afghanistan, Pakistan, India), which depends upon food smuggled from Pakistan to feed its people, that has no institutions to speak of, is to somehow serve as an 'India like democratic buffer state'.

. .
Yeah, it sounds a lot like South Korea, 1952.

 Yes, and how long has Afghanistan been a nation now?

Given how far ahead Pakistan is in every category, not least a sense of nationhood and ethnic harmony, so integral to the success of a mulit-ethnic state, and continuing to expand, one can only extrapolate to see how things would progress with this 'buffer state'. :D
