Pakistan Parliament bypassed over MFN status to India

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Thursday the government had not taken parliament into confidence on giving India the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status.

"We have serious reservations on granting the MFN status to India and the government should bring the issue in parliament for debate but it seems that they are running everything in mafia style," he said while addressing a press conference here at the Punjab House.

He was of the view that India had always cheated Pakistan and in this situation the rulers were taking decisions against the public opinion.

Asked whether it was not conflicting that while he was opposing the MFN status to India, Mian Nawaz Sharif in his recent statement has expressed the desire to have good trade relations with India, he said Nawaz Sharif has always stated that India and Pakistan are two nuclear states and they cannot resolve their disputes through war.

"But giving MFN status to India not only has political but also economic and regional implications. We have to make decisions not at the cost of Kashmir and national interests and we should evolve a consensus on such issues," he added.

Still they havn't decided.....
I think it should be brought in parliament for discussion so that it can be considered as people's decision not governments decision...
India shouldn't be worrying about the decision, bcoz it's the best way of taking decision in democracy. And we both enjoys it..

Considering continuous propaganda by India, MFN should not be granted to India.
You want friendship? be in control then, and don't cross your limits. (From Pakistan to India)

India asked for MFN from Pakistan but you are reacting like snatching from you... cool down buddy after all it`ll be your country`s decision.. give it or not.

look who is talking??india lifted european embargo for pakistan

One can't really assess the significance of this to India, but for Pakistan it could be of greater magnitude. Announcement of granting MFN to India came after India decided to support Pakistan at WTO for EU trade concession. What if India goes back on its word & scuttle this move the way they did last time? I'm sure some sane Pakistanis must be thinking the same now!!

One can be sure of Pakistan doing cost benefit analysis of all its options (After considering india objecting to its European trade). What is good for Pakistan? They have to decide as they have more information of whats going on, then most of us.

This is not going to happen in the short term. Will be interesting to see what happens when iranian oil pipeline comes to pakistan. India needs this more than pakistan in the long run to open up energy and pipelines routes to india. Pakistan can always move these towards china if india does not play ball

Dear senior sir , many pakistany members have the same opinion(that iran is the only source for gas ) but my dear sir india has already found huge blocks of gas in cauvery basin , andra ,rajsthan & bay of bengal & we also have huge deposits in runn of kuch & thar desert so we actually dont need your support to survive better for pakistan to come out of that delusion & moreover we can buy the same gas from iran through a new undersea pipeline which is already in the works so in short "thanks but no thanks"

How much cubic meters of gas has been estimated in them?
Will India use up gas that is closer to its home(something that can serve as an emergency reserve).. or use the resources of other countries whilst keeping its in reserve.. if ..India has long term gain plans.

I don't think this decision was taken with Parliament in agreement and it seems a Unilateral decision by Zardari and Co

As far as I have heard giving MFN status is the job of Ministry of Commerce which then sends the proposal to PM for his rubber stamp.Parliament and cabinet got nothing to do with this.Everyone is going gaga because its something to do with India.
