PN has launched a requirement for the purchase of two used Aircraft that can be converted into Medium Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The condition with the requirement is that the aircraft offered should already be in use with the PIA, PAF or Army for commonality of ground and maintenance logistics. Seemingly, PN may be going for 2 of the retired Fokkers of the PIA that may be converted later into a MPA. Bids are due next month, i.e end of March 2011

Cannot understand this navy old is gold logic. why cann't they just replace al their MPA and ASW fleet with Y-8. They can get it easily with soft loans.

I admire your focus on PN. I am deeply disappointed at PN's slow progress in improving their warships and other weakness areas. Budget problems is not excuse, see PAF's better capabilities. Our neighbor's navy force is impressive.

India's coastline is around 4000 kms while ours is around 600kms. So we need innovation not renovation to our Naval offensive and defensive ability!! This can only be achieved when Naval planners have the capacity to think and operate 'out-of-the-box' solutions!

In recent years i have started to believe strongly in a fact that in case of a war with India, humberi navy humha marwai gii. They havent bought a decent platform in years. U-214 ki deal chai thi....woh be is government na scrap ker di.:disagree:

I agree! In a full scale conflict with India, PN will be the first force to loose the coastal frontier to an Indian Naval blockade! The moment they loose control, Pakistan will go nuclear at the Eastern front!

sir with due respect..nuk's are last option..nobody launches a nuk when naval blockade or minor territory lose happens..it is used only when a serious threat happens to territorial integrity.peace.

With a naval blockade, the countries economy will come to a stand still which inturn means either we surrender to our enemies wishes or make sure that if we go down, they go down as well. No one is favoring a nuclear war. We are discussing a possible scenario. Point being that PN is in terrible or rather should i say pathetic state.

wesy apas ki baat hai hamari navy ki soch hi choti hai hahahahahh jesy bhikari kabhi 100 ruppes nhi mangta wesy hamari navy kabhi state of the art waipons nhi mangti .heheheheheheheheh

Navy is facing major issues... regarding funds it is the least force that is focussed which actually should be focussed on equally.Anyhow it is doing the best it can warships are on there way as we have already started getting the f-22p hang in there guys inshallah the navy shall make its self strong mr 10% seems to have is dirty face and hands in the navy funds it seems as so we will have to see and hope for the best good things happen to those you wait.

with a naval blockade in place, pakistan will be starved for fuel, most of which is shipped in by sea.

so once a blockade is in place, its just a matter of days before the armed forces collapse. this will mean a grave threat to pakistan and they might choose to go out with a bang.

the fuel reserves both countries hold wont last long. without imports and zero civilian use, pakistani reserves might last a week. indian reserves will last a day or two more. someone please correct me about this if i am wrong

so if the PN cant stop the blockade from being enforced, pakistan might lose the war even after winning every air/land battle.

i still don't think a naval blockade is some something worth a nuk retaliation. and i don't think a naval blockade is that powerful to win the war..if it was pak must have invested more on navy.

You have World War III prdictions here. Naval blockade to choke and collapse Pakistani Armed Forces ? If Pakistan anticipates that there will be a threat to destroy the Pakistani Armed Forces, then we use the PAF's full might to pre-empt and destroy the Indian Naval Assets while they are still planning and staging. What will happen after that would not be as bad, since India without a strong Navy will no way win a ground war with Pakistan.

Regarding the Indian Army, we blew the myth of the Indian Army when 96,000 of them showed up to fight 2,300 Pakistani soldiers of the Northern Light Infantry Batallions in Kargil.

Long Live Pakistan and its brave sons.
