KARACHI: International broadband operators see Pakistan as one of the emerging and lucrative markets of the world where they could attract millions of potential customers in shortest period of time.

The speedy Internet service has now become the basic need of people but millions of users in Pakistan are still seeking a cutting edge technology for connecting themselves with the rest of the world.

Around 10 broadband operators are presently providing their broadband services by exploiting different technologies, particularly in the metropolis. Besides, there are others to emerge soon. Qubee, a UK-based Augere company is one of them to be officially introduced in a couple of days.

Mubashir Naqvi, Chief Executive Officer Qubee is very enthusiastic to expedite his broadband business in the country and very optimistic about the response his company is expected to receive from hundreds of thousands of customers soon.

“We are going to launch officially our broadband service soon in the economic hub of the country with the philosophy of customers’ care on the top of our priority,” he said.


With the brand name of Qubee, Sharp Communication Pvt Ltd—a wholly subsidiary of Augere will lunch its broadband services in Karachi this month. The services will also be introduced in other major cities such as Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi in next two to three months.

“Qubee will never stop its investment in the country where millions of customers are waiting to buy its quality service”, said Naqvi in an exclusive interview
to Daily Times.

It invested about $70 million in last calendar year and planned to pump in $25 million to $50 million next year, depending on its capital and operating expenses. The company has rolled out its infrastructure network in all major cities of the country. Its network support partners are internationally recognised collaborating it for the provision of best wireless Internet services called Wimax.

Naqvi seeks to approach maximum number of subscribers in Karachi as he sees growing demand of technology in commercial and domestic sectors.

“People, in the economic hub of the country, Karachi, are well aware of technology trend and will respond well when we reach their doorsteps with the offer of our service,” CEO Qubee said.

Qubee made its soft launch few months ago and got subscribed to nearly 1,500 customers.

Naqvi vows to provide broadband service in every big and small city of the country, as he believes to implement on the motto “Broadband for All.”

In the faster-than-expected competition among broadband operators, he added, only those companies will survive who are financially sound and equipped with latest technology. “The service charges also matter a lot, therefore, we do a lot of care about it and offer our services from Rs750 per month.”

Naqvi, who is also the former CEO Ufone, claims the business model of this company is one of the best, advanced and cost-efficient among the other operators which is a plus point for him in the competition.

“Our strategy is to share network with different telephony companies and penetrate in maximum parts of the country step by step with the shortest possible time,” he added.

He said the marketing model of the company is unique because we approach our targeted customers for saving their precious time instead they come to us.

Qubee sales agent will offer door-to-door service in the potential and literate areas of the city. Besides, four sales and service centre, the service promotion is also done through telesales and four to five thousands phone calls are made every day.

The company believes in retaining its customers on its network and decides to fix every minute snag within the hours of the complaints.

Agree Pakistan is very attractive for broadband operators but since we got couple of broadband providers in our country, new providers must offer either faster speed or competitive prices to sustain in the market

Interesting so they will Peer with existing networks and hence better speed and connectivity on inter network.However i am not sure if PTCL will allow it's competitor to peer with it.The benefit goes both way if Quebe acquires huge customer base.(Doubt it..PTCL is just too good)
