Pakistan failed to store water in past 45 years: experts - thenews.com.pk

On the concluding session of a three-day workshop experts said that instead of blaming neighbouring countries for blocking waters, Pakistan has done nothing to store water in past 45 years.
The workshop titled Framing Responses: Journalists Workshop on Climate Change Impacts and Challenges was organised by Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) Pakistan in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Stiftung in Islamabad.
The experts were of the opinion that countries in South Asia are committed to store water but Pakistani authorities are busy in making reports but not translating them into action.
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss how climate change can affect South Asia region and what can be done at a local and possibly a regional level through media awareness and action planning at micro- and macro-level.
The experts included former Wapda chairman Shams ul Mulk, former minister of state Malik Amin Aslam, Dr. Pervaiz Amir, environmental expert Dr. Aurangzeb Khan, Chief Environment Planning Commission, LEAD Pakistan CEO Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, eminent journalists from India and Pakistan and various other representatives of national and international organisations working on water and climate related issues.
