ISLAMABAD, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani government has approved a 75-billion-rupee (1.25 billion U.S. dollars) plan to connect Gwadar port by rail to streamline cargo movement, local media reported on Monday.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Pakistani Minister for Railways Shaikh Rashid said the government would invite private sector to participate in the mega project, according to local newspaper DAWN.
Pakistan Railways, the state-run service, will be revolutionized at a rapid pace through optimum utilization of available resources, the minister said.
Authorities are examining ways to increase train fares in such a way that the burden is shifted to people traveling in air-conditioned and upper class compartments, according to the report.
The minister said that private companies would be allowed to run some new trains, adding that they would pay track access charges. Enditem
