After making an amendment in the law for voting, Pakistan has allowed overseas Pakistanis to vote from next general elections.

According to notification, Electoral Law Amendment Ordinance 2013 has been signed by the president Asif Ali Zardari on advice of prime minister.

Election Commission of Pakistan has been asked to take measures to vote for the elections with all Pakistanis embassies and ambassadors will assist the commission in the process.

The polling stations will be set up at least 14 days before the election day after approval of Foreign ministry. Every Pakistani living outside the country will have to register his vote in the related Pakistan embassy.

But present elections might miss votes of overseas citizens of the country as only two days remain in polling unless special measures are not taken by ECP and special orders are not issued by the president or the prime minister.

So it seems that Election 2013 will be carried out without votes of over 30 million Pakistanis living allover the globe.

President was in the state of hibernation during past months. Had he promulgated this ordinance a couple of months ago, expats would be exercising their right to vote in these elections.

This was delayed on purpose to disenfranchise overseas voters ... the ordenance was pending on Zardari's table for atleast 10 days but he didn't sign it and did this gimmik today ... In my honest assessment this will never happen bcz if they(PPP and Noora league) do it then they will bury under the Tsunami created by such act. Come next elections they will come up with some other lame excuses ... ******* bastards

Sir, what are the odds that expats will still not be able to vote in the next elections? Pretty high, so there is no need to get anybody's hopes up.

We are extremely ill-fated that we have a president like him.. Trust me his *** is going to be kicked off any way.

No guarantee, apex court with all its power could not force these morons.. Every freaking thing in this country has been politicized, institutions are working under the influence of politicians..

Expats votes in these elections had a decisive role to play... I am disappointed, big time..
