Pak-Turk ties turning from friendly to economic: CM

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Turkey are changing into lasting economic ties.

He said that a new era of friendship between the two countries has started with the recent visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and a number of agreements and memorandums of understandings have been signed for cooperation in education, transport, security, anti-terrorism, infrastructure, energy, solid waste management and other sectors. The Chief Minister said that this visit has proved to be a milestone in Pak-Turk relations and new avenues of cooperation have opened up due to which Turk investment and cooperation will increase in different sectors.


According to a statement, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Punjab has completed a number of projects with the cooperation of Turkey during the last five years whereas Turk companies invested billions of rupees in various sectors in the province. He said that Pakistani delegation received a warm welcome during the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to Turkey and the Turk government and people set a glorious example of love and friendship through their hospitality.

He said that the love of Turk people won the hearts of Pakistani delegation and the rousing welcome reflected the affection of Turk people to their Pakistani brethren. He said that six agreements of mutual cooperation were signed between Punjab government and Turk investors during this visit. He said that Turk companies will cooperate with Punjab in energy, solid waste management, transport, anti-terrorism and elimination of crimes. He said that the visit of Pakistani delegation to Turkey will strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries while trade and economic cooperation will also increase.

He said that a comprehensive strategy has been adopted for speedy implementation of the agreements signed with Turkey. He said that Turkey has achieved a dignified status in the comity of nations within a few years through honesty and hard work. He said that Turkey has surprised the world by making rapid progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and President Abdullah Gul and it has emerged as a strong economy. Shahbaz Sharif said that as Chief Minister Punjab it was his fourth visit to Turkey which is a proof of the growing relations between Pakistan and Turkey and a new era of bilateral relations has started with the recent visit.

He said that Turkey has expertise in bus rapid transit system and negotiations have been held with Turk investors for launching metro bus service in Rawalpindi and Faisalabad on the pattern of Lahore. He said that maximum facilities will be extended to the investors in the province.
The Chief Minister said that Pakistan is facing scourge of terrorism and the government is taking all possible measures for controlling this menace. He said that senior officials of Turk police are imparting training to Punjab police for modernising police force.

He said that the tribute of Mayor Istanbul Kadir Topbas is an honour for the people of Pakistan especially Punjab that the speed and standard of metro bus project in Punjab has surprised even Turk engineers. He said that merit and transparency is the hallmark of provincial government in every sector and metro bus and other projects have been executed under the same spirit.
He said that provincial leadership will continue to move forward by adhering to the principle of honesty and hard work and Pakistan will be steered out of the quagmire of problems and transformed in accordance with the vision of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

They look like silk or plastic mixed etc btw the flags look awsome……:tup:
