Commercial ship industries has little to do with aircraft carriers, take the Soviet Union and present day South Korea for example.

In spite of recent breakthroughs in steam catapult and radar-based air defense technologies I've been hearing about, their disel/reactor turbine, hull, torpedo, ASW helo are very behind. With the EU embargo and Russia's inexperience in carriers, the future of China and India's power projection abilities looks bleak.

dispite all that the usn believe (as does many others) that china is building (probably right now) ~2 carriers(probably ramp not catapult)

also chinese hull are not bad at all, the latest ships are build with modern modular techniques)

torpedos are fine as well

turbines there is a problem

reactors are seeming solved

ASW helos are behine but not"very"

other than that electronics can use more improvement but sensors are already not too bad.

look it up chinese navy is easily capable of building carriers but this is their first time and the more studying the less mistakes
