But The russians seem confident that this beauty will start to trickle in service in 5-6 years time

If has it appears the Indians actually get the PAK FA with 12 months of the Russian entry then the whole concept of PAF plans on FC20 & Thunder with upgrades will become redundant over nite.

Whislt i openly agree the F16/52 can go toe to toe with the SU30MKI

And The Thunders can take on MIG29SMT * MIRAGE2000-5 and LCA tejas

I feel the PAK FA will simply be a at another level to all of these 4 generation fighters.

Wat surprises whilst Russia and india are looking to quietly and efficiently bring the PAK FA into serious flight testing by 2012 that PAF and indeed PDF forum posters are stil arging about the Thunders merits as deterrance against 270 su30mki or 120 mig29mirage2000... and 40 Tejas.

Never mind the MMRCA oders which will probably happen IF PAF are to keep reducing the current 2-1 disadvantage over IAF in firepower they need to start looking at how to counter a expected $20 billion order for PAK FA FGFA from india in the coming years. ie 2015 plus.

For the record the Indian GDP is expected to cross $ 2 trillion in 2015.

This gives India a defense budget of $50 billion in 2015 from the current
$32.7 billion this year ...

i BELIEVE THE AESA snow lepoard Radar piks up signals of fighters at 400km

The russian fighter is designed to go toe to toe to JSF & F22.

i DON,T THINK THUNDERS OR FC20s can fight at this level
