[Madrid, 15 July 2010] ONO, a Spanish leading media and entertainment broadband operator, and Huawei, a leading provider of next generation telecommunications networks for operators around the world, have signed today a contract for the upgrade of the operator' s voice network.
ONO has decided to dedicate part of its investments to the substitution of equipment that sustains voice communication services. The technology solution provided by Huawei allows for the modernization and optimization of equipment, as well as a reduction of operation costs, as it requires lower energy consumptions and, therefore supports environment improvements.
The renewable seven years agreement will allow ONO to focus its efforts on the needs of its customers and development of new services. This integrated solution model, which includes both the provision of equipment and the Managed Services for the voice network, streamlines the process of incidents detection and resolution, thanks to the involvement of the equipment supplier in the operation
The technological solution provided by Huawei will allow ONO to improve functionalities and critical services such as session control, signalling, protocol processing, etc. It will also help unify multiple access networks of the operator to offer integrated services.
Huawei will be responsible for 7x24 monitoring activities, workflow management, configuration management, performance evaluation, project management and so forth. Huawei also will take care of the engineering processes, planning and quality management, and incorporates into his organization ONO' s voice network management group, consisting of 40 professionals who will join the multinational with all guarantees and maintaining their current labour conditions.
Huawei has more than 95,000 employees and it is one of the most solid companies in the sector, with an excellent growth potential for the future. In 2009, it reached a turnover of USD 21,8 bn., with contract sales of USD 30 bn. It expects to reach USD 36 bn. contract sales in 2010. Besides, Huawei has been included as one of the most respected companies in the sector by "The Reputation Institute"

Technology Platform
The technology platform provided by Huawei includes Softwswitch equipment for the control layer of the network, Gateway equipment and IMS platform for the management of Voice over Broadband terminals and act as the service control center interconnecting with application servers. The proposed solution includes equipment for telephony services and business, as well as technology for conference converged applications.
