The government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa planned to initiate a project titled as "Peshawar Safe City Project" to put in place a modern and sophisticated security system of international standard in the provincial metropolis. Under the project the most modern technologies including information technology, sensitive CCTV cameras, cellular technology, GPS technology, electronic maps, wireless technology, FM radios and others would be used to ensure the lives and properties of the public keeping in view the international standards of public safety.
In this connection the high-ups of the provincial government are given a presentation by a private company, ie Motorola in Peshawar on Wednesday. Chief Secretary Muhammad Shahzad Arbab presided over the presentation. Provincial Ministers Shah Farman, Shaukat Yousafzai and Shahram Tarkai, Advisor to Chief Minister Rafaqat Ullah Babar, Inspector General Police Nasir Durrani, Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez, Secretary Home Akhtar Ali Shah, Secretary Finance Syed Badshah Bukhari, Secretary Local Government Hifzur Rehman, In Charge of Complaint Cell CM Secretariat Dilroz Khan, representatives of Motorola Company and other relevant quarters attended the presentation.
Representatives of Motorola Company gave a detailed briefing on various aspects of the proposed project; and it was decided on the occasion that the technical experts of Motorola and the concerned authorities of police would sit together to conduct a study in compiling a comprehensive report regarding the security need of the city.
