Nine hurt in Balochistan bomb blast
QUETTA (updated on: July 16, 2006, 16:26 PST): At least nine people were injured, two of them critically, when a bomb exploded in a shop in Barkhan town, 340KM east Quetta, police and witnesses said. The explosion also damaged three shops, they said.
The explosion hit a radio repair shop in the town. Two other shops near the explosion site were also damaged.
Witnesses said bomb shrapnel and debris of the buildings caused injuries to the shops' owners, several buyers and passers-by.
Seven minor injured were taken to a government hospital in Barkhan and two serious injured were shifted to a hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan. No one took responsibility for the attack.
In a similar incident, a bomb went off near a government office in Naushki area, 140 kilometres north-west of Quetta, on Saturday night. There was no loss of life but the explosion shattered windowpanes of several buildings.
