New Army chief to visit forward areas in J-K
Jammu, Apr 19 (PTI) New army chief General V K Singh will review the security situation and visit forward areas to access counter-infiltration measures during his maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow after taking charge.
During the three-day visit, Singh, who has led counter-insurgency operations in the state, will be briefed at Leh-based 14 Corps headquarters and later at 15-Crops headquarters in Srinagar about the security situation, anti-terrorism operations and cross-border infiltration, a senior army official said.
Singh is scheduled to visit Northern Command headquarter at Udhampur and will hold discussions with Northern Command chief Lt Gen B S Jaswal.
He is scheduled to visit 16 Corps headquarters at Nagrota in Jammu and forward areas in Poonch, Mendhar and Akhnoor for an on-the-spot assessment of cross-infiltration measures and border situation.
