New export terminal at Port Qasim inaugurated
KARACHI (June 23 2010): Sher Nawaz, chief collector of customs (South) has inaugurated new export terminal at Port Qasim (PQ) to handle non-PaCCS Export Cargo. In his address, the chief collector said that non-PaCCS export cargo had increased over the period of time due to various reasons like LCL cargo, minimum price criteria and quota regimes. Under the circumstances there was a dire need for a separate terminal to handle the cargo at one place. This new facility would provide 'one window' facility to the exporters.
All the important operations from 'passing-in' to the 'allow shipment' would be completed at one place. Certainly, it would reduce the dwell time, thus ensuring no shutout of export cargo. In this way, all stakeholders would be benefited accordingly. The Chief Collector lauded the efforts of Collector Exports, QICT administration and other stakeholders for their keenness and diligence in setting up this new facility in such a short span of time.
The Collector of Customs Exports Ghulam Ahmed, Collector Port Qasim Khalid Mahmood, Collector Preventive Fatih Muhammad, CEO QICT Changez Khan Niazi and Chief Media Liaison Officer Qamar Thalho as wel as large number of customs officers were present on the occasion.-PR
