Nawaz withdraws nomination papers for NA-123

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz’s chief Nawaz Sharif withdrew his nomination papers for the NA-123 by-elections on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

Earlier, on Monday, the Lahore High Court had adjourned the hearing of Nawaz Sharif's eligibility case till Tuesday. The hearing was adjourned after the court’s election tribunal was informed that Sharif's counsel did not receive the court’s summons and therefore could not appear for the proceedings.

The court had ordered that the notice be served again on Nawaz Sharif.

On February 12, the Lahore High Court had issued a notice to Nawaz Sharif to appear on February 15 on a petition filed by a journalist, Shahid Aurakzai, with the Election Tribunal of the Lahore High Court.

The petitioner had challenged the PML-N chief’s eligibility to contest the NA-123 by-elections. — DawnNews

Yes this is one reason and the othe is that Nawaz this time can not win against Sheikh Rashid hence Nawaz Sharif had given ticket to brother of Malik Qayum for contesting.

In case Nawaz stands for by-polls and lose then it will be a big blow to PML-N. So we can understand why he is not contesting

NA-55 will be won by Sh. Rashid and NA-123 will be won by Aitezaz Ahsan (if he is convinced by the PPPP).

Well, I see no much chances for Sheikh R in NA55. But never know, PPP has some support for this guy if they have no candidate. But NA assembly has dead assembly without the presence of Sh Rashid. His gossip is awsome.

If the election was fair sans interference by Zardari then Sheikh Rashid is going to win.
