LAHORE: The Sharif family’s troubles seem set to worsen as reports suggest the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has found evidence of massive money laundering through which Shehbaz Sharif and his family members accumulated assets in the United Kingdom.

According to sources privy to NAB’s investigation, the illegally accumulated assets are worth Rs85 billion to Rs100 billion and were bought during Shehbaz’s tenure as Punjab chief minister.

They said the evidence found was irrefutable and showed striking similarities with the money laundering and fake accounts case against former president Asif Ali Zardari and other Pakistan Peoples Party leaders.

NAB’s probe found that Hamza Shehbaz’s declared assets in 2003 were worth less than Rs20 million, which increased by almost 2,000 per cent to over Rs410 million after his father became Punjab CM.

Similarly, his younger brother Suleman Shehbaz’s personal wealth increased 8,500 times and he now has assets worth more than Rs3 billion.

The sources said NAB has also arrested some close associates and facilitators who gave up details of the Sharif family’s corruption and money laundering process.

They said more arrests were expected over the coming days and other close family members and associates would be included in the investigation.

‘Sharifs, Zardari to blame for country’s woes’

The claim of money laundering evidence was also reiterated by Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry in a media talk on Friday afternoon.

He said NAB has evidence that Shehbaz’s family owns assets worth between Rs85 billion to Rs100 billion in the United Kingdom. “The money used to buy these assets was illegally laundered from Pakistan,” he said.

Condemning the manhandling of NAB officials during the raid at Shehbaz’s residence, he said it was more evidence that the PML-N’s politics was based on violence.

“NAB action was legal and they clarified their position at court in the morning. Hamza is a political leader and he should have cooperated with NAB,” he added.

Meanwhile, NAB issued summons to Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz to appear for questioning on April 9.

No problem, the courts and some important personality in the establishment will do the deal with them eventually. The institutions are rapidly losing the trust of the nation.

Govt should end these gimmicks, these pathetic tactics have done nothing for state.Other then pushing political rivals on side,PTI is doing nothing.
The damage they have done to state, for that Noora and Zardari Group should face firing squad.
We have got this proof, that proof. These theives don't care about proves, every proof against them in eyes of there dim witted supporters is political.

If not SC but LHC for sure. Old tactics of corrupt political elites to delay the case & mean while create hurdles in the process of justice. I.e burning records or bribing the bureaucracy.

BTW according to constitution if NAB has concert evidence so NAB can raid without any arrest warrant.

corrupt elites would try to divert the case toward political means & would blame on Govt despite the fact that NAB is taking action according to it's own decision behalf of evidence without any political influence.

They should face firing squad,a public execution of them along with their cronies sitting in establishment would be good for state.

We dont have that law :(
We should make it after all IK said wanna learn from China, right?
Yes,we should take a page out of PRC book for dealing corruption and anti-state activities.
These are bloody pests and two legged animals, you can't teach rule of law to these animals.Their only focus is earning fortune that too by putting Pakistan and it's public on stake, otherwise none of them is capable even of filling a taxation form, and they are trillionaire just by doing corruption at industrial scale.

That's the conundrum, to pass any law, you need the support from these corrupt goons so our system and nation have failed. We needed to give IK 2/3rd majority. This system is a failure..

NAB is doing a great job. I have observed that NAB is more sincere in dispensing of its duties. They work under stress and at much lower wages than the competition and under the legal framework provided to them by the parliament & the SC, NAB itself does not make laws.
Also I heard it has been under-staffed. The problem lies with the courts in fact. The justices of the higher courts earn a lot more than even CEOs of many multinational companies in Pakistan and they are the ones who have discredited NAB's work JIT reports and they are ones who make behind the scene deals... as the recent grant of bail to NS or removing SS's name from ECL.

It happens every now and then, I am sick of this drama to such an extent that I have stopped watching news.

PMLN leaders and workers knows Jail and all other humiliations in this country are for weak and poor, they know Sharif family have enough to buy the justice , they know sharif's will be ruling this country again, their party is hopeful hence intact despite serious leadership crisis.

. .
They keep finding these MASSIVE evidence but gets rejected in courts and keeps on fooling the masses of Pakistan.
I am doubtful that the prosecutors in NAB even have a law degree...How can they not know their evidence doesnt stand? I mean look at NS's lawyer...Making big money and saving his client..While our NAB - your honor please give me time to review the case coz I was asleep on duty and didnt do it in the time frame I was allocated
