KARACHI: Police arrested two suspects involved the murder of Professor Syed Sibte Jafar Zaidi from the Surjani Town area of Karachi on Wednesday, reported Express News.
The suspects, who belong to the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), were allegedly involved in several other incidents of targeted killings.
Police also recovered arms and explosives from the suspects.
Professor Sibte Jafar was the principal of Liaquatabad College and a renowned sozkhwan. He was shot dead by unidentified men on March 18 near Liaquatabad College.
The deceased was a lawyer, renowned poet, educationist and a scholar.
Earlier during the day, the police also claimed of arresting two suspects involved in the murder of Lyari gang war leader Arshad Pappu during a raid.

The Karachi chief of the banned sectarian outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ), wanted in a number of sectarian killing cases, was arrested after an encounter in Mauripur, police said on Tuesday. A number of weapons and a hand grenade were also seized in the operation.

During investigations on targeted killings, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Karachi police was informed about the presence of LeJ militants in the Lucky Pahari area of Mauripur.

When the police went to search the hideout, the suspects opened fire at the law enforcers. In the ensuing encounter, police arrested Tariq Shafi Ansari, who goes by several aliases such as Doctor, Haji and Baray Mian. His accomplices, however, escaped from the hideout under the cover of fire. A hand grenade, one .44 rifle, one 8mm pistol and a TT pistol along with several rounds were seized in the crackdown.

During interrogation, police learnt that Ansari became the LeJ Karachi chief after his predecessor Hafiz Qasim Rasheed was arrested last year. Ansari’s gang consisted of Waseem Baroodi, Zeeshan and Naseem alias Firon.

The suspected militant had been earlier arrested in 2001 and was imprisoned until 2008. Then he was released after courts granted his bail. Ansari formed his gang again and started murdering people belonging to the Shia community.

The police also found a “hit-list” with the suspect. SIU police said the Ansari gang had killed Syed Ahsan Abbas Naqvi in Karimabad on April 3 last year; Dr Hassan Alam Zaidi in New Karachi and Mushtaq Hussain in SITE on January 22.

The gang members were also wanted in the murder cases of Syed Qamar Raza Naqvi in Nazimabad on February 9; Hassan Safdar Naqvi in North Nazimabad; Syed Akmal Mohsin Rizvi at Jamshed Quarters; Prof Sibte Jafar in Liaquatabad earlier this year. Further investigations are under way.

Vice Chairman: Bader Iqbal
Secretary General: Imran Farooq
Deputy Secretary General: Khalid bin Waleed
Finance Secretary: S.M Tariq
Mayor of Karachi: Farooq Sattar (Last one alive)
Deputy manager: Raziq Khan
First 2 Senators: Nishat Malick and one more.

It is so regrettable and unfortunate that all these top leaders of MQM, except Farooq Sattar are dead, and all have been assassinated. It is also on record that all these leaders either left MQM (Bader Iqbal, S.M Tariq, Imran Farooq, Razik Khan) or developed differences with Altaf Hussain (Azeem Tariq, Khalid bin Waleed, Nishat Malick) before their death.

Interesting fact is that MQM has never ever tried to catch or even seriously demanded the capture of culprits who wiped entire leadership of MQM in last 20 years despite being in government for last 23 years

Yehi to aaj ke bachon ko samajh nahi aati, in mei se kisi ko bhi police 2 thapper laga de thane le ja ke to apne peda hone se pehle ke murders bhi accept ker lenge. They are as far away from reality as anybody can be. Sitting on the internet thinking they know everything.
