Uighur Muslim women are being sterilised at internment camps for ethnic and religious minorities in China, according to former detainees.

“They injected us from time to time,” claimed Gulbahar Jalilova, who was held for more than a year in government “re-education centres” in the far-west Xinjiang region.


“We had to stick our arms out through a small opening in the door,” the 54-year-old told France24. ”We soon realised that after our injections that we didn’t get our periods any more.”



Most of her time was spent with up to 50 people packed into a cell measuring just 10ft by 20ft. “It’s like we were just piece of meat,” she added.



A similar account was given by 30-year-old Mehrigul Tursun during a video call to an Amnesty International event in Tokyo, as reported by the Nikkei Asian Review.

Ms Tursun, who now lives in exile in the US, told of being given unknown drugs and injections while detained at an internment camp in 2017.


She said she felt “tired for about a week, lost my memories and felt depressed” and was released four months later after being diagnosed as being mentally ill.

Doctors in the US later told her that she had been sterilised, she said

Up to one million Uighurs, Kazakhs and other minorities have been arbitrarily detained in internment camps, according the UN and human rights groups.


Researchers have claimed the facilities are being run like “wartime concentration camps” as part of a “systematic campaign of social re-engineering and cultural genocide”.

The Chinese government however has described them as “boarding schools” offering vocational training and rejected allegations of torture and other abuses as “fake news”.

Former detainees have previously told of torture, beatings and electrocution as well as being forced to eat pork, attend political re-education lessons and sing political songs.

The global outcry over China’s treatment of minority groups has had little effect, however. Last week it was reported that China is building even more secret camps.

India is not doing a mass sterilisation of Kashmiri women in detention camps like China here. In fact, Muslims have the highest birth rate in India. Even the rape incidents in Kashmir are isolated. There is no mass rape happening.

You can close your eyes but the whole world is watching what is happening in Xinjiang and how brother Muslims in Pakistan are ignoring it.

this is the greatest example of our hypocrisy as a nation. we cant say a word against china as they are feeding us. we are so week that we cant even stand with the truth. Quaid must be ashamed of our current state. i watched a lecture by dr zakir naik about chinese treatment of muslims in china and i was ashamed of myself and the whole of the muslim world.

if this thread is posted by some neutral person I have no issue with such thread.Indians want to damage our relations with china by posting such threads and it is part of their 5 gen hybrid war.I also condemn such behavior but we can ask china to resolve such issues in a diplomatic manner and offer them our contribution and help for such women .We are going through very dangerous situation and cannot afford to damage our relations with china and isolate ourselves otherwise our women will also face such situation

This is happening and there is absolutely silence from entire muslim community and when i started to highlight this, chinese trolls came after me and also many people on the forum who are prochinese casting it as a western propaganda.

It is not propaganda. This is a cultural genocide at play.

We spoke up when this happened with Bosnia, Kashmir not to mention Palestine, Darfur, Yemen.

We as humanity have to speak up. I used to respect Chinese leadership but after Xi since last year; they have gone the way of Gang of Four; I will not be surprised if they go to what Gang of Four were doing that included burning any religious books including holy texts.

China is sterilizing Muslim Women.
Your first job is to go check if that's true.
You are more concerned about your relations with China and india than what is happening to Muslims over there?
That's pure hypocrisy and exactly the reason you are in this situation. The country as a whole, because your stand is not driven by morality but by your selfishness and out of fear of what other men can do to you, instead of the fear of the Lord of Heavens and His ability to give you victory over anyone.
