MQM suspends decision to leave ruling government
MONITORING DESK KARACHI (updated on: July 27, 2006, 18:23 PST): The Muttahida Quami Movement on Thursday has taken back its decision to leave the ruling government after receiving assurances from President Pervez Musharraf, a report citing sources said.

According to Aaj TV channel MQM Leader Altaf Hussain, who is in London, postponed the decision after receiving assurances from President General Pervez Musharraf, who called him from Karachi.

"MQM leader has decided to give some time to the government," Aaj TV sources said.

According to earlier reports on the channel MQM had decided to leave the government and taken resignations from its federal and provincial legislators, which was to be announced in an emergency meeting called in Karachi.

The election is coming closer

Obviously, the political parties have to do some "posturing" to keep alive their credibility.
