Mohenjodaro stupa according to colonial scholars belongs to buddhist period, but very interestingly, a recent research has infact suggested that the building is not buddhist but from pre buddhist indus valley civilization era/bronze age. Bricks belong to indus civilization so it was proposed that buddhists excavated them from the ruins and constructed their stupa, but now the new findings reveal that the building doesnt allign with the buddhist stupa directions as well.
Astonishingly the indus valley era building almost resembles buddhist ideals and hence the misconception of it being from buddhist era.
Sof far Indus lacked a temple and religious building but that seem to be refuted soon if the latest research is backed up by more research and scholarly works.

there is an indian archaeological journel pragdhara which has published this research and a prominent german archaeologist engaged in IVC research has backed up this assertion but he stressed the need for further investigation.
