Minister of National Defence of Vietnam calls on PM


Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, Gen. Phùng Quang Thanh, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.

Prime Minister Modi recalled the successful visit of H. E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam, to India in October 2014.

Gen. Thanh briefed Prime Minister Modi about defence and security related developments in the India-Vietnam bilateral relationship. Prime Minister Modi expressed satisfaction at the progress made in bilateral defence and security cooperation since the visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Gen. Thanh thanked Prime Minister Modi for India’s strong and growing defence and security relationship with Vietnam, and for India’s support and assistance in this regard. Prime Minister Modi assured Gen. Thanh of India’s full commitment to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

India and Vietnam Sign a Joint Vision Statement on Defence Cooperation

India and Vietnam signed a Joint Vision Statement on Defence Cooperation for the period 2015-2020 here last night. The Statement was signed by the Defence Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar and the Vietnamese Minister for National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh at the end of the delegation level talks in New Delhi. An MoU on cooperation between the Coast Guards of the two countries was also signed in the presence of the two Defence Ministers. The Vietnamese Defence Minister is on a 3-day official visit to the country at the invitation of Shri Parrikar. At the delegation level talks, the two sides discussed wide ranging issues concerning defence cooperation, including cooperation in the area of maritime security.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to further enhancing the ongoing defence engagements between the two sides for mutual benefit.

Everyone do understand the importance of Republic of India and the role Republic of India can play not only in the region but even on International level.

By the way Chinese have built two lighthouses in South China Sea .

China outlined a strategy to boost its naval reach on Tuesday and held a groundbreaking ceremony for two lighthouses in disputed waters, developments likely to escalate tensions in a region already jittery about Beijing's maritime ambitions.

India need to enhance its maritime capabilities fast..Plans are already underway. With even stronger armed forces we can protect not only our allies but also our allies national interests. If we want to become a true super power we shall start acting as one.
