SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have busted a militant module here with the arrest of its kingpin and recovery of arms and ammunition.

Omar Zargar was arrested from the old city, locally known as downtown, a fortnight ago after investigations revealed that he was trying to revive militancy in the city, official sources said today.

Zargar was detained by police at the height of summer unrest in 2010 after having obtained clinching evidences of his involvement in stone-pelting incidents but had been later let-off.

He then fled the valley and had gone abroad. He returned recently after he was assured by his accomplices that the situation had eased out, they said.

One pistol and a wireless set have been recovered from his possession, they said.

Based on information obtained from him during questioning, police expect more arrests and recovery of arms and ammunition in the coming days.

Zargar was trying to motivate youths, most of them who were stone-pelters, to join the ranks of militancy and had promised them weapons and money in abundance, the sources said.

Meanwhile, investigators are trying to ascertain whether he was involved in the attack on Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar in Nawab Bazaar area of the city in December last year.

A personal security guard of the minister was killed while four others, including a civilian, were injured in the attack but Sagar had escaped unhurt.

Although police is tight-lipped about his arrest, the sources said a press conference will be held within couple of days to give details of the operation.

Some of the things you guys say are abhorrent and shameful, apart from being against Indian law.
If captured, they should be tried in court, if they die in gunbattle, they should be cremeted like any other human being.

We should not become a brutal society while fighting terrorism.

You mean buried not cremeted :D

Well whatever is possible, I was just pointing that we should not be disrespectful to dead, thats all.
If the militant is local, then he could be buried in the land used by locals, else can be cremeted.

Buddy he wont be cremeted he is not Hindu :disagree: most probs he will be jailed or given the death penalty if he is guilty for murder. His body will be returned to his family if indeed he is executed and they can give him his last rights how they see fit.

Why waste time and ground burrying them, just crmate them and drop their ashes in to the drain.
They don't deserve any respect.

They don't deserve any respect.

It's not for their respect.

It's for our own respect...in the eyes of our future generations.

We want to be able to hold our head high in front of our children and tell them that even while fighting the terorrists, we didn't lose our goodness.

If Lord Ram became like Ravan just to kill Ravan, Ram would cease to be Lord Ram.

hey guys stop the cribbing here...

Forgiving a Terrorist is left to GOD. But, fixing their appointment with the GOD is their Responsibility.
