Quincy Jones, the legendary music producer behind Michael Jackson, says that the late King of Pop plagiarised some of his hits.

“I hate to get into this publicly, but Michael stole a lot of stuff. He stole a lot of songs,” Jones said in an interview full of eyebrow-raising comments published by Vulture, the culture site of New York Magazine.

“The notes don’t lie, man. He was as Machiavellian as they come,” the 84-year-old music veteran said.

He specifically cited Billie Jean – a signature song off the Jones-produced Thriller, the top-selling album of all times.

Jones suggested similarities between the song and disco queen Donna Summer’s State of Independence, which was also produced by Jones and released several months earlier in 1982.

Few listeners would immediately associate the two songs, although both open and are built on unusually lengthy synthesised bass lines.

Jones also said Jackson was “greedy” and should have given partial writing credit to keyboardist Greg Phillinganes for his song Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.

Jones’ allegations run against prevailing public perceptions of Jackson, who died in 2009 and is often viewed as a tortured soul with little financial acumen as he amassed wealth.

The producer voiced sympathy over Jackson’s personal issues, saying he had raised concern to the singer over his plastic surgery and blamed abuse by the singer’s father for the King of Pop’s poor self-image.

Jones has remained active as an octogenarian, recently launching the Qwest TV video streaming service for jazz, but has also made a stream of headline-grabbing comments with a generous sprinkling of profanity.

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, he said he had 22 girlfriends around the world, spoke 26 languages and had undergone a cutting-edge treatment in Sweden to help him live to 110.

You'd have to really alter the baseline tempo and even several notes from Donna Summer's State of Independence to get that classic bass line in Billie Jean, not to mention the harmony is totally different. The resemblance is negligible, at best.

Isn’t he a little late with his accusations...

Michael Jackson was a pedophile. If he stole songs or not is irrelevant to the bigger crime of child abuse.

A lot of his fans excuse his odd behavior to his childhood.. that is odd because most rapists or serial murdered also blame their childhood for their crimes.

Would you allow a 40 year old strange man to sleep with your 7 year old son?... If you are normal... The answer is NO!

Considering he produced both Donna Summer's and Micheal Jackson songs, you would think he's also liable to a certain extent if he knew about any alleged "stealing."

The other thing is that there are only so many notes in each key lol. You're bound to have unintentional similarities, especially when musicians have an ear for songs they grew up with and were parts of their lives. Not only are they influenced by these artists, that influence shows up in much of their own music. It's only natural.

Either way it won't harm Jackson's musical legacy. We will never see the likes of another album like Thriller in our lifetime, or our kids' and grand-kids'.

Many of the famous and successful persons are actually very egoistic and Machiavellian.

But they are praised and recognized as nice and kind person.

He is pedophile because he has urgent need, but he can't get a grow up women. So he seek children because it easier to deal with.

Both are legends in the music world and their legacy will last for a long time.

Prove it.

He said he sleeps with little boys... Look it up..

police reports Tuesday (June 21) that appear to be from the Santa Barbara Country Sheriff's Department in 2005 offering disturbing details of Michael Jackson's alleged pornography collection, seven years after the singer's death.

The 88-page report cites several picture books, magazines and videos containing images of nude and semi-nude children located during a raid at Jackson's Neverland Ranch. The items were also described as material intended to "groom" young victims and reduce their sexual inhibitions.
