Medical student shot dead in Kohat for refusing marriage, say police

A medical student was shot dead in Kohat reportedly on the pretext of refusing a marriage proposal, police said on Sunday.

Asma, a third-year student at a medical college in Abbottabad, had come to see her family in Kohat during session break when the incident happened, SHO Kohat Development Authority police station Gul Janan said.

On Saturday, when Asma reached home along with her sister-in-law, Mujahid Afridi and his accomplice Sajid opened fire at her and fled the crime scene soon after, the police official said.

Asma received three bullets and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, SHO Janan said.

In her initial statement given at the hospital, Asma had identified Mujahid Afridi as the person who had fired at her.

DPO Kohat Abbas Majeed informed DawnNews on Sunday that a case has been registered against Mujahid Afridi under Section 324 and 302 of Pakistan Penal Code. "Police are carrying out raids to arrest the prime suspect," he added.

Meanwhile, the victim's family have informed police that the suspect is a relative of local PTI leader. The suspect wanted to marry Asma and was putting pressure on the family to accept the proposal, said police.

Can't believe this arguement is still being used after the Marshal khan case and the incident where a college student shot death his principal for marking him absent after attending a TLYAR rall combined with the overall growing radicalism in universities.

I will say this again why are guns so easily available in Pakistan? You have a minial problem with somebody and you get shot in the process. Take all legal and illegal guns and smash them to pieces. The homocide rate will fall down by 100-200 % and nobody will die for nothing.

Someone who's driven to kill won't care whether he has a gun or not. People will kill each other with butter knives if they have to. Mutual respect and tolerance is missing in our society

Girl allegedly killed by PTI district president's nephew in Kohat over marriage refusal

KOHAT (Dunya News) - A medical student was allegedly shot dead by Mujahidullah Afridi, nephew of the district president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Aftab Alam, over marriage refusal in Kohat.

Mujahidullah Afridi and his brother Sadiqullah opened fire on the girl, Asma Rani, when she was getting off a rickshaw in front of her house. The suspects immediately escaped from the scene after killing the girl who was a third year student of Abbotabad College.

Asma received three bullets and was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She had came home to meet her family in Kohat during session break. The body of the deceased has been sent to her native town Laki Marwat.

The victim’s brother says that Mujahidullah wanted to marry his sister but the family refused as he was already married. The suspect’s family asserted that he has escaped to Dubai however; police has yet not confirmed the statement.

In a statement at the hospital, Asma has identified Mujahidullah Afridi as the man who fired at her. Raids are underway to nab the culprits.

A case has also been registered against the two suspects in Township police station under Section 324 and 302 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Any country with high availibility of guns has a high homocide rate. Fact. No good comes from giving easy access to guns. Just see the homocide rates for USA , Mexico , Pakistan and then compare them to countries where there are strict gun laws.
