Media city to be set up in Karachi

A media city will be established in the metropolis, and an expression of interest (EOI) would be published in this respect within the year, Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Mohammad Raza Haroon said on Thursday.
The minister said that 200 acres of land had been acquired for the project, which will be a joint venture.
Earlier, speaking as the chief guest at the Intel Education Awards Ceremony, he announced that 100 computer labs would be established in 100 schools in the province. In this regard, 7,000 personnel are being trained and the trainees are being given stipends of Rs5,000 to Rs7,000 per month according to their academic qualifications.
The minister said that the Sindh IT Department is taking up a number of IT projects, including e-policing, which will help provide all police-related services to people. He said that online lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) would also be possible.
