Islamabad: After notorious land-grabber Taji Khokhar, property tycoon Malik Riaz may fell prey to the investigations being carried out into a murder case as well as influencing the judges and a deadly accident in Bahria Town.
Cases against the business tycoon were to be opened in a recent meeting of the attached departments of the interior ministry Islamabad but were deferred due to some reasons, an official of the police department said on Wednesday.
The police official predicted that business tycoon Malik Riaz might face the same fate as his friend Taji Khokar faced, when a large number of Elite Force commandos and police personnel led by SP Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Rana Shahid surrounded the Khokhar House at Dhoke Gangal and finally arrested him in the murder case of a woman.
While talking to Daily Times, the senior police official said that the new government that finally managed to arrest Taji Khokar and sent him for 14 days remand would definitely show its power at every cost to arrest Malik Riaz in cases like land grabbing, influencing judges of the Supreme Court, a murder case as well as a case of accidental death in Bahria Town.
The police official told Daily Times that there was a possibility the new IG police after getting permission from the interior minister may open cases against Malik Riaz within days or months.
The new IG after assuming charge is reported to have said that all pending cases about everyone would be taken up soon.
Malik, who had faced embarrassment in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a contempt case, has reportedly made several allegations against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and claimed to have paid around Rs 340 million to Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of the CJP, to obtain some favourable decisions. The wrangling between Malik Riaz of Bahria Town and Chaudhry Nisar is also an open secret. It would be interesting to observe the moves of the latter, in case cases against business tycoons are reopened.
