Government forces on Monday allegedly prevented people from cleaning the Ahl-e-Hadith Eidgah Ashajipora and Hanfia Eidgah Janglat Mandi on Eid eve.
The residents alleged that the forces have erected barricades around both the grounds and people who went there for cleaning purposes were denied entry.
“It seems they don’t want us to offer prayers in these Eidgahs,” said a resident.
Notably, joint resistance leadership has called for a march to the UN office in Srinagar today.
Earlier, officials hinted at curfew in “sensitive places’ in Srinagar in view of the separatists’ call for UN march to “maintain law and order”.
Meanwhile, markets opened in Islamabad (Anantnag) town after 6 pm as part of relaxation programme announced by the Hurriyat.
People were seen buying essentials ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, being celebrated tomorrow.
