China banned electricity generation from Coal Plants the reason is every year around 5 lac people died in China just because of Coal - Elec generation (Declared as dangerous method). Now why China is going to built Coal Plants in Pakistan ?

Answer from China is "We didn't initiate this. That is your government who want commission in terms of Coal Electricity generation".

China banned Coal and divert to Wind Mills & Hydro and here in Pakistan, Government banned Wind Mill and Hydro and go for Coal AMAZING.

Government built Metro btw the City of Rawalpindi (Over head) where massive amount of traffic and movement everyday. The over all structure is not "Earthquake proof" and according to history stats, after ever 5 - 7 years Rawalpindi and Islamabad hit with above 6 - 7+ Magnitude of Earthquake. Similarly this government after so many warnings from past 2 years, they didn't built proper barrier on Mangla dam and spending money here and there just for voting drama.....

After authorities final warning regarding in case of further water level increase the barriers/Wall can not sustain the pressure and it will turns into massive flood plus chances of massive deaths. Now government ordered authorities to stop further water into the dam. It will directly hit Pakistan economy, estimated 23 arab rupees, massive load shedding in summer because of low power generation and also badly damage agriculture production.

Now here is another coal plant.... in all these projects government directly threatening life of the citizen just because of $$ and incompetency spending money here and there without any consultation with the relevant departments and completely ignore warnings ....

Zardari did massive corruption in Islamabad New Airport. Because of Muk-Muka current PMLN Government don't even interested to open any single case. Project cost increased from 35 - 90 + Billion paid from tax payer money ******* and still after 8 years, no chance of opening... further delayed.... In 2014, Nawaz Sharif visited New Islamabad Airport and ordered authorities to open in 2015. After 1 years still no progress no chance in 2015 or even 2016.... according to the officials, PMLN Government will open this airport before elections of 2018. They're playing politics and completely ignore the tax payer money and massive load with pathetic facilities available in current Islamabad/Rawalpindi airport. After 2 + years of PMLN government, NS don't initiate any single audit on Islamabad new airport. Last year Ch.Nisar blasted PPP government over Islamabad airport corruption but again why he didn't open NAB Case ? again muk-muka scene continue.... This airport will open in 2017 or 2018 by PMLN just to get credit for the votes.

sir wind and solar is capital intensive, and hydro takes a lot of time to build, therefore gov has to make the most of it, so coal is the only option, because it is cheap and can come online in a lot less time than others.

Please check before posting china`s installed capacity of coal which is 1.95 trillion kilowatt-hours per year where as we are talking about 2500 MW .Stop doing propaganda

China is not closing down all of its coal plants they are closing down those who are based on old technology the ones with new technology will be made in Pakistan and they will keep running in China too

lol @ kid trust me on this forum I am one of more aware and more knowledgeable person regarding the electricity issue of Pakistan. My father in law was GM in Wapda he had one o one meetings with PM and ministers of water and power of PMLN, PPP and before regimes. He was the person who initiate Neelam Jehlum Project but look what govts did with that project. He always clearly stat that none of politician faithful to the people and interested to fix the crisis the way this crisis is actually fix... many foreign investors backoff because every regime want higher percentage of commissions in all electricity projects... ... and you're telling me propaganda buddy what do you know about the electricity in Pakistan?

lol @ kid trust me on this forum I am ne of more aware and more knowledgeable person regarding the electricity issue of Pakistan. My father in law was GM in Wapda he had one o one meeting with PMLN, PPP and before regimes. He always clearly stat that none of politician faithful to the people and interested to fix the crisis the way this crisis is actually fix... many foreign investors backoff because every regime want higher percentage of commissions in all electricity projects... ... and you're telling me propoganda kid what do you know about the electricity in Pakistan???? He was hired by ZTE, In fact many chinese and international companies for consultation... but everytime this shitty government involved by default because you can't do anything without their involvement...

Don't mean to offend you in any way but watts produced in Pak will be quite less also based on newer tech in which smoke goes from water treatment before discharging at the moment share of thermal generation is very high and expensive this will provide short term 50% less .

Brother these are not permanent issue... We have great water flow in norther areas...we can easily initiate Hydro projects... also wind-mill is another one ... trust me these governments just because of $$ go for such projects ....

I agree with you ,well I believe in what type of influence we got this might be our inner circle to at least go for short term but imagine relief we will get first every unit produced will be cheaper (50%) from HFO and Diesel .Second our crude import bills will reduce third local activity will improve this is short term for Dam`s we need large money ,time ,tech and no disputes .So ideally for any one to address this issue this might work

This is ridiculous. All developing countries where oil & gas are not available, run power plants with coal because it is cheap.

In developed countries too, they started talking on intra fuel substitution after they fulfilled initial requirements. From 60`s they started moving towards nuclear , now they are rethinking after Fukusima.

In India most of the power plants are coal fired. Off late there is a thrust on renewable energy.

Pakistan is starving for energy. Purchasing power in Pakistan is low. The first target of Pakistan Govt should be generating power as much as possible and then at lowest cost. I do not think Pakistan Govt did any mistake to pursue the objective.

Bad luck for Chinese that they are investing in Pakistan, helping them but in return getting such bad publisity

Lol Chinese are not under this line of fire... this is Pakistani government who are under line of fire who always want massive $$$ % of commissions. First Benazir did blunder in 90s and now NS go for this but different platform... You're talking about cheap ? any idea about how much Pakistani government is getting in terms of percentage ? and how much expensive this project in Pakistan ? a country where 27 kilometer metro built with 55 BN Rupees... see the pathetic quality of construction... by hydro we typically mean dams which usually take a decade to build, the run of hydro is i think is not feasible because the flow of river downstream is not high enough. But it is not all coal, wind farms are also coming up in gharo and salt range, as well solar in south punjab, secondly you should also look at our energy mix which is dominated by oil(33%) which is expensive, where as the world's energy mix has coal on 32-33%. So that is why we are converting to coal for a "cheaper" energy mix.
