Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to end Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khans official protocol immediately and issued contempt of court notices to the district magistrate and DIG Islamabad on Friday for keeping nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan in captivity in the pretext of protocol. The court has called the officials on September 4. Dr Qadeer on Thursday moved a petition before the Lahore High Court challenging his official protocol, terming it a hindrance. The petitioners counsel SM Zafar said according to an Islamabad High Court order, the government had provided Dr Khan official protocol, adding that the protocol restricted Khans freedom of movement and he felt like a prisoner. He requested the court to direct the government to withdraw Dr Khans protocol. Removing restrictions on movement of Abdul Qadeer Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry in his remarks said the verdict of the Islamabad High Court should be enforced with its spirit.
