LHC moved against hike in petroleum prices

LAHORE: The fresh increase in petroleum products’ prices by the government was challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday, ARY News reported.

The petition, filed by advocate Muneer Ahmed, stated that the increase in the prices was illegal as rules and regulations were not followed by the government.

It said the petroleum prices were increased without taking approval from the federal cabinet. The petitioner pleaded with the court to declare the recent increase in the fuel prices as illegal.

In a bombshell development, the federal government had yesterday increased petrol price by Rs25.58 after decreasing it a short while back resulting in a countrywide scarcity.

According to a notification issued by the government on the matter, new price for a litre of petrol is now Rs100.10.

High-Speed Diesel’s new price is now Rs101.46 per litre with an increase of Rs21.31.

Light diesel’s new price is Rs55.98 per litre registering an increase of Rs17.84 whereas kerosene oil’s new price would now be Rs59.06 per litre with an increase of Rs23.50.

The new petroleum prices will come into effect after 12 am tonight.

It is pertinent to mention here that petroleum prices in the country went through significant decrease earlier in the month which subsequently made Pakistan one of the cheapest sellers in the region but that status couldn’t even be upheld for a month.

A lot of money is being made by first decreasing official price of oil and then hoarding it and now getting ready to sell it at "government enhanced price" of oil. What I am interested in is how much money will the people in government (including the so-called "non-corrupt" imran khan) will make out of this intelligent game through their proxies, contacts and financiers in the oil industry. This is the most obvious case of government assisted corruption. Corruption has many faces and whatever happened with the oil price and hoarding within the last 30 days was one of its face through which it manifested itself.

its not just the oil price ... he promised many things during election days ..not even one promise has been fullfiled ...the only project peshawar metro bus...years have been gone billions have been spent but it still seems to far from completion .. he appointed incompitent people not just one two three but many ... i wish he appoint buzdar as chairman of shokat khanam ... but he will never do this .. because just pakistan is enough for these experiments

He put Ishaq, Nawaz, Shahbaz, Zardari, Abbasi, Sher everyone behind bar......who released them? Nawaz and Bhutto payroll judges.

He promised Bhasha and Mahmund dam....he delivered.

He promised educational reform....uniform syllabus for all rich and poor starting next year.


Succeeded:
Controlling deficit, limiting imports , rationalizing dollar value to its true market value , increasing investment, ease of doing business , learning to live within means, cutting government expenditures, lowering interest rates, dam constructions .

SoSO:
Increasing exports, Tackling issues of IPP and circular debt, controlling inflation, state
bank reforms,

failed : privatization, tax reforms and expanding tax net , shutting down hawala systems, demolishing supply mafia, land reforms, job creation programs, and punishing big corrupt business houses .


But its been only two years so far and this is the work in progress...........

despite un believable corrupt bureaucracy and judiciary he has managed to push through and this itself is a great achievement.

They lack perspective on anything. I would like for them to imagine what their opinion would've been if this was happening under PMLN and PPP government.
Probably something similar to how Imran Khan used to screech, about petrol prices, IMF, loans, inflation, dollar rate, and so on.

He's simply a cricketer, nothing more. He thouht running Government affairs is easy, and only did big talk. Now that he's in Government, he has realized what a shit show he has created, and how wrong he was as he goes back on every promise and every scrutiny. I am willing to bet he won't run for the next elections unless his hand is forced.
