Lack of decision caused Multan plane disaster: Shujaat Islamabad: President Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Ch. Shujaat Hussain, who is also the chairman of the standing committee of national assembly on defence, said Tuesday that PIA plane crash occurred due to delay in decision making regarding grounding of Fokker fleet.
He stated this while presiding over the meeting of the standing committee of national assembly on defence.
There was no second opinion about the cause of the incident of Fokker plane crash, which occurred due to the ageing fleet factor, Shujaat said.
Whether the responsibility of the incident lies with the PIA or government but the delay to ground the old aircrafts was also a big reason for the shocking disaster, he added.
While opposing the federal cabinetââ¬â¢s decision against use of Fokker planes for cargo purpose, in the meeting, the chairman Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said that these planes would be sold in near future.
The committee members demanded an inquiry report regarding the Multan plane crash from high-level officials of PIA and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
He stated this while presiding over the meeting of the standing committee of national assembly on defence.
