KP gets Rs1.5 bn bonus for best financial management

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Senior Minister, Sirajul Haq, on Thursday said the province got Rs1.5 billion as bonus in reward for its best financial management, which is a recognition of the provincial government performance.

The KP government’s financial management was adjudged the best among all the federating units, which was why the province was awarded Rs1.5 billion extra from its due share in the allocations for the provinces, he told reporters after launching the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA) at the Finance Department here.

He said the government was trying its best to ensure transparency and good governance and the activation of KPPRA was a step toward this end. The Right to Information law was also a big achievement of the government to make public access to information easy, he added. He said revolutionary steps were needed to reform the society where courts were helpless, laws were only implemented for the poor and VVIP culture had paralysed the system.

Sirajul Haq, who also holds the portfolio of finance, said his department had released Rs71 billion out of the total Rs72 billion worth of Annual Development Programme (ADP) and by the end of the month, it would be known as to how much the departments had spent. He said they had planned to expedite the auditing system by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the provincial assembly.

He urged the media to play its role in guiding the government and pinpoint the wrongdoing, if any, so that the reforms agenda could be implemented and good governance ensured.

My differences apart, SirajulHaq is a dead honest person.. he made it possible for coalition govt of KP.

Well when you are awarded bonuses it means you are most definitely doing a good job. You see i heard it from you but majority of punjab and many ignorant posters here would not even remember this and still claim that KPK is doomed and there is nothing being done here and why isnt the heaven we were promised delivered already even though its only been one year and inaugurations and planning is the best you can expect at this stage.

Good news.

Why you want patwaris of this forum to piss in there pants...

My second choice will be jammat after PTI but I will never trust thugs like PML-N and PPP....

Surplus is created by under spending....KPK government wasn't able to utilize the development spending due to delay in planning and developing necessary prerequisites for spending the funds.
Explaining the measures of fiscal discipline in provinces, the report notes that development funds are being released in Punjab on biannual basis to match transfer of development funds with available fiscal space to the Punjab government.

Release of development funds was being strictly monitored along with actual expenditure against the released amounts to avoid unnecessary parking of funds.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has committed not to go in the overdraft from the State Bank and the cash balance position of the provincial government with the SBP is satisfactory.

KPK govenment is playing conservative with maintaining money in SBP account earning nothing on it, whereas Punjab government is spending on matched basis to avoid idle money in her account with SBP. Having honesty is one thing, but having financial acumen is equally necessary for a financial administration....

Federal government for posting a surplus balance.....But nobody would mention this....
I am Anti PML-N but if they provided 1.5BN because of KPK performance either in recovery or for what but credit also goes to PML-N that they accepted KPK Govt good performance and provide extra bonus to them. IMO same credit goes to PML-N

Actually this shows good governance. They managed the funds well and didnt waste it on anything that was not required for the projects nor did they eat the funds that was just standing there and how do you know that they are just wasting the funds in SBP. They could be thinking of utlizing the funds in another project or they could be thinking of investing the left over money to create more money. I can assure no sensible govt would just leave money idly by. Its just not possible. I think most probably this fund will get allocated to another project which will complete the show of good governance and show that they are willing to spend only the amount that is required and making sure there is no corruption.

I am hundred percent sure if this was N you would be writing a hundred posts saying what great governance this is and how honest they are and how great they are. Some times accepting the opposition is doing good work is also a sign of political maturity.

On top of it all The federal is much smarter and know how things work more than the keyboard warriors and fanboys here. If they actually Gave a bonus on the basis of utlizing the finds well then it actually happened. No need to get two ways in your hatred.

Remember Pakistan above all parties. I accept any good work done by any party as long as its beneficial to the country.

How can you play conservative with having 72b and spending 71b. Thats called jitni chaddar ho utnay pair phalao. 1b was left over, are you suggesting they should have over spent their budget? Where have you heard that over spending a provincial budget results in clapping from economists?

it would be known as to how much the departments had spent.
The funds are still awaiting employment.....Allocation and disbursement are two different things altogether...

Does the word "released" mean Allocation or disbursement from finance department? Either way, Lets talk about how you were accusing them of bad economic policies for utilizing the money they had. I hope I can learn something of how having a deficit is good economic acumen.

I have to agree with that statement because it is true. Water is Blue and Roses are Red. We can also talk about other things instead of answering what you had asked in the first post.
