KTX Ranks Top in World for Safety and Service
Korea's high-speed rail system ranked among the best in the world in terms of safety and service last year, according to a report released on Monday.
The report claimed that the KTX, which serves over 100,000 passengers a day, had a 99.8 percent rating for punctuality in terms of arrivals and departures, beating out Taiwan, which came a close second.
Korea's bullet train also had the lowest number of accidents among the 12 leading countries surveyed, including Germany and Italy.
The report was based on comparative data published by the International Union of Railways, as well as reviews from private sector rail experts.
