Kashmir: Hizbul militant shot dead in Sopore | Firstpost

Srinagar: Security forces today shot dead a Hizbul Mujahideen militant in Sopore area of north Kashmir. Police and army launched a joint search
operation in Bhat Mohalla in Sopore town this morning following information about the presence of a militant there, a police spokesman said.
The house, in which the militant was hiding, was cordoned off and the ultra asked to surrender.
However, the militant opened fire on the security forces and was killed in retaliatory action, the
spokesman said.
The slain ultra has been identified as Mohammad
Shafi Sheikh alias Shafi Peer of Hizbul Mujahideen.

Hizbul Mujahideen is as good as a dead organization. And that's why the PTB across the border are getting desperate and alarmed and so trying their darnedest to prop up the insurgency in Kashmir by infiltrating the Yahoos from the LeT and JeM.

Not sure if non-Kashmiris are aware of this but this Hizb was a very strong force IN Kashmir. Now all are tourists
If you go to the villages - you will find people(all Muslims) forming Village Defence Committees(not sure if people know this). The leaders of these villages, usually old men are occasionally killed. But still, the VDCs stand. They act as the eyes and ears of the Indian Army. Only in Kashir University, Srinagar you will find some intellectual influenced elements supporting this jihadis. But then even the intellectual elite of Delhi also supports breaking the country apart, embracing Naxalism and all that crap. So, no - we are not bad

All these militants are killed by local Kashmiri Police and RR Jawans with the help of local informants. There are about 83000 Kashmiri Police Jawans and they have proved themseleves as horror for terrorists in valley in recent years. These 83000+ Police Jawans and VDCs are true Kashmiris and represent real Kashmiri mentality and seperatists have little support among commom Kashmiris.

yes VDCs are equipped with low end weapons but still their recuritment have seen a great success in recent years and seperatists demand to disband them also prove this fact. They don't just secure villages but they also give Police and Army very crucial informations and help to find hideouts.
