KARACHI: The Karachi head of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) known as Ameer Sahab was arrested in Kemari, reported Express News on Tuesday.

Weapons, including four hand grenades and several bullets were seized from Ameer’s custody.
According to police officials, the TTP Karachi head has served jail time in connection with a murder case previously.

The Taliban have killed more than 120 people in election-related violence since April.
A bomb attack on the office of the Awami National Party (ANP) in the commercial capital, Karachi, on the day of the elections killed 11 people and wounded about 40.

The group issued threats to political parties considered secular in an effort to deter them from contesting polls which are considered un-Islamic by the group.

We congratulate the Pakistani forces on capturing this terrorist. It is quite possible that they might have saved many lives in the process by arresting this terrorist. The surge in violence during the elections proves that these terrorists carry an evil agenda against the nation. They are trying everything in their power to prevent peace from prevailing. And at the same time, they are working against our efforts to counter extremism. We encourage the Pakistani authorities to stay vigilante against those who threaten the safety of its people. We hope to remain unified against those who are working against our peace efforts. We hope to build on our improving relationship and continue our partnership against our common enemies.

PESHAWAR: Police claimed to have gunned down two suspected terrorists on Tuesday after they opened indiscriminate firing on a police station in Badhber area on the outskirts of Peshawar.

However, the family of one of the deceased protested outside the Governor House in the provincial capital, claiming foul play by the police.

Family members of Shehryar, a college student in his second year, said he was visiting Badhber area to collect his roll number.

Police shot down the youth suspecting he was a terrorist, the family claimed. The family has demanded senior police officials to order a probe into the incident.

Earlier, Superintendent of Police Rural Shafiullah Khan had said that police had prior information about the possible entry of suspected terrorists from Dara Adamkhel and as a result security was beefed up.

The arrest is a great thing... I can't help but be impressed by the CID. CID has highly been successful in curbing terrorism in Karachi. Almost every week we hear about an arrest or encounter where those terrorists die or are arrested. Militancy can be curbed if we focus our efforts on the TTP instead of just doing things America tells us to do. TTP or the Pakistani Taliban should be the primary target for our security forces. Defeating them should be our primary concern. We should even launch a raid in Kunar in Afghanistan where Fazlullah is hiding.

Why is the picture of this Terrorist missing they should publish his picture so people know who he is plus in case he ''mysteriously'' escape again general public will know who to look for.

I would also like to add the big question in my mind. The question was why the terrorists were not hanged. I mean we have captured terrorists who have killed many innocent civilians but we not hanged or punished even one. The security forces should concentrate on defeating the TTP

This is a welcome sign...but more important thing IMO is that he has served previous jail time, so he escaped or got a low jail term. Lets hope this time he is behind bars permanently or sent to the gallows.
