QUETTA: Princess Sara Zeid of Jordan visited Quetta on Tuesday and met Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani. She is visiting Pakistan as the United Nation’s Special Adviser to the World Food Programme on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition.
During the meeting, the visiting dignitary and the chief minister discussed matters related to nutrition of mother and children, health, vaccination and immunisation. “We give utmost priority to the health and education sectors,” the chief minister told her.
The chief minister also shared with Princess Zeid plans about polio eradication and vaccination drive initiated by the provincial government to eliminate the disease from the province.
She appreciated steps taken by the provincial government for the health of mothers and children.

The princess is on a four-day visit to the country to highlight the importance of nutrition to women and children.
High malnutrition levels and food insecurity are some of the challenges faced by Pakistani women and children.
Minister for Health Balochistan Mir Naseebullah Marri, Parliamentary Secretary Bushra Rind and Country Director of WFP Finbarr Curran were also present at the meeting.
This is the third visit by a royal to the country in a span of two months. Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton of the UK were the first royals to visit followed by Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
