"Nearly 22,000 applications have been received in Kashmir Division up to May 2011 and an amount of about Rs three crore stands disbursed among the eligible unemployed youths," an official spokesman said after a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather to review the welfare programme.
The spokesman said that 7,457 applications were received in Jammu division during the corresponding period and an amount of Rs 95.66 lakh has been disbursed among the eligible youths.
During the meeting, Rather directed officials to extend the reach of the employment policy to rural areas for equitable distribution of its benefits.
He called for conducting an extensive entrepreneurship potential survey at the district level for laying a sound and strong enterprise base in the state.
Rather said the state government would shortly launch the Employment Exchanges Mission Mode Project at a cost of about Rs 65 crore to integrate the employment web portals at central and state levels.
